Himmeli, an art to enjoy light and shadow. A mobile featuring glossy tassels.

Works by the artist etelä, who creates traditional Nordic decorative himmeli.
From the desire to "live in Shinshu, use Shinshu materials, and create things."
Himmeli is made using wheat straw from Nagano Prefecture. These are works made from rye harvested in 2023.

Etelä, who creates himmeli in Matsumoto, Nagano Prefecture, is involved in the cultivation and harvesting of the wheat used as the material for the work. This gentle himmeli carries a neat and dignified beauty that seems to reflect the artist's personality. It is a delicate yet healthy-feeling piece made by connecting threads passed through the hollow parts of wheat straw from Nagano Prefecture, which are the parts of the work.

The shadows created by the regular octahedron and tassel are very beautiful in "aula." The layered regular octahedrons of different sizes are wonderful. Also, the combination of glossy thread and wheat in the tassel part is beautiful and eye-catching.

Himmeli, also called the "mobile of light," is a traditional Finnish craft. Because it is lightweight, it gently moves with even the slightest air flow, and just watching it brings a sense of peace.

You can enjoy light and shadow by decorating it on the dining table or by the window, or hang it on branches. It is very light, making it easy to decorate in various places and enjoy a leisurely flowing time.

There are also mobiles with different designs of himmeli and preserved flowers attached.Available◎

About aging changes

The presence unique to wheat straw.
The aging of wheat straw changes color slowly from a greenish white to a golden hue. Due to the nature of the material, cracks and other changes may occur depending on the environment and handling. Changes have both positive and negative aspects. Beauty and fragility.
We hope you can appreciate "Aging brings character. The depth of flavor and the beauty of space. The beauty of light and shadow."
